Dj The Soul Preacher // Stone Cold Funk (Sly Stone 1943 – 2025)

Dj The Soul Preacher présente son dernier mix 'Stone Cold Funk' en hommage à Sly Stone (15 mars 1943 – 9 juin 2025). Considéré l’un des innovateurs et l’un des pionniers de la Funk lors de ses débuts avec le mythique groupe Sly and the Family Stone, avec pas moins de 10 albums studio, dont des morceaux incontournables tels que Family Affair et Thank You, suivi de compilations grands publics dont une de Sly Stone en 1970. 

Après une séparation avec la Family Stone , il enregistre des albums en solo et participe à des tournées avec George Clinton et Funkadelic. Finalement, il revient au sein du groupe pour participer à plusieurs concerts, notamment au côté de Prince, il continue de perpétuer l’héritage de la Family Stone au travers de différentes compilations.

Musicien, compositeur, producteur de génie, il a su révolutionner musicalement et pacifiquement la Soul le Rock 'n’roll' psychédélique, le R&B et la Funk, influençant des artistes célèbres comme Miles Davis, Prince, Michael Jackson, Rick Jones, Janet Jackson, Mary J Blige, puis samplé par de nombreux rappeurs tels que Public Enemy, les Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Arrested Development pour ne citer qu’eux.

Cette sélection de 19 titres comprend une œuvre d'Ann Sexton, une chanteuse de Soul souvent sous-estimée, décédée en Mars 2025, ainsi qu'un morceau de Curtis Mayfield, qui aurait célébré son 83eme anniversaire en Juin 2025, ainsi que de nombreux artistes avec lesquels il a collaboré.

Il a édité un magazine appelé 'The Dub' et a été DJ pendant 30 ans, à commencer par le 'George Robey dub allnighters' au milieu des années 90 à Londres dans le cadre de 'Two 7s Clash', rappelant le légendaire album de Culture Two Sevens Clash. Il gère maintenant le Field Frequency Sound-System (composé de Dani Dubdub & DJ Spanners) et tient une émission 'DestaNation Show' sur la radio 105.1 FM d’Oxford qu'il partageait chaque semaine sur le site du Widgeon theatre boat. Il partage aujourd'hui ses mixs via Mixcloud en partenariat avec la Webradio de Londres Real Roots Radio.

Pour cet émission sur le Mixcloud de RealRootsRadio, en date du 23 Mai, Dani Dubdub a sélectionné 18 titres pour une durée de 2 h, allant du Roots Reggae, Dub et Reggae, avec de nombreux classiques (Pablo Moses, Earl 16, Al Campbell, Johnny Clarke) et des nouveauté comme l'excellent dernier titre de Solo Banton Sound Teachings.

Le Sampleur Samplé // Lee Dorsey - Black Moon - Throw Your Hands In The Air

Le Sampleur Samplé est de retour avec cette fois-ci avec un sample du légendaire Lee Dorsey, chanteur de Rhythm and blues dans les années 60 qui a interprété de nombreux morceaux connus et reconnus, repris par plusieurs artistes, qui malheureusement connu un succès tardif dans les années 80, peu avant son décès en 1986. Auteur et compositeur du célèbre 'Get Out Of My Life Woman' en écoute ci-dessous :

Le morceau fut utilisé par le groupe de Rap US Black Moon, particulièrement actif durant la période des années 90, sur l'album 'War Zone' sortie en 1999 avec le sample original de Lee Dorsey sur le titre 'Throw Your Hands In The Air' 18eme titre de l'album.
